3 thoughts for today
When we listen to what is happening in the world we can easily become overwhelmed by panic and sadness. What narrative are you listening to? The world’s narrative or God’s? God says, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). In Judges 7 God reduced Gideon’s men from 7,000 down to 300. The narrative was that the situation was too big. Gideon thought he did not have enough men, but God spoke through the enemy and gave Gideon courage. God showed Gideon that He was at work and He enabled Gideon to fulfill His purposes. God is still at work today. The world says the church is declining and on the way out, but the church is thriving under pressure. God walks with us today. We need to listen to His narrative and hear what He is saying in our lives.
Courage means the ability to do something that frightens us. We all face things we are frightened of. In Joshua 1:1-9 God reminded Joshua that He was with Him and told him to “Be strong and courageous”. We need to stay close to God and be the light in the darkness. Joshua was reminded of God’s promises that He would be with him wherever he went. All Joshua had to do was to be strong and courageous.
There is a vaccine for sin – Jesus. We are justified through faith and have access to the presence of God. This hope does not disappoint. We are destined to be transformed to the image of Jesus (Romans 8:29).
