John 15:12-17

It is vital that we stay connected to Jesus, but it is also just as vital that we stay connected to each other as Christians. Jesus does not say it would be nice if the branches got on with each other, He commanded us to LOVE each other – it is not am optional extra! Loving each other is the greatest commandment (Mark 12:28-34).

Jesus commands:

Love Sacrificially – Jesus speaks of sacrificial love. He speaks of His sacrificial love in laying down His life for us and He commands us to love others in the same way. We must be a community and not merely individuals. It means thinking about and praying for each other at all times. Love is powerful. It is demonstrated by actions. If we love sacrificially we will be more than servants we will be Jesus’ friends.

Love Undeservedly – Jesus chose us. If God chose to love us with all our faults and failings then who are we to reject others? We are commanded in Ephesians 5:1-2 to “Live a life of love”.

Fruitful Love – Love should produce fruit in our lives. Love is the first fruit listed in Galatians 5:22-26. Are you blessing others with your love?
