Jesus the same
God has said, “NEVER will I leave you”. Can you say with confidence that the Lord is your helper?
Romans 8:37; Philippians 4:13; Isaiah 54:17, 40:31 – When we know these Scriptures then what is it that changes our confidence? When we look to God do we see Him as the Bible says He is or do we see Him through our own or other’s experience of Him? Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Do our thoughts about God change depending on our circumstances and feelings? God does not change, we do. Ebenezer – thus far has the Lord brought us. God never abandons us.
- The nature of God DOES NOT change – “I the Lord do not change” (Malachi 3:6). We need to find again our first love for God. God is compassionate and gracious (Psalm 86:15). He knows what we are going through. He walks with us through life’s difficulties. He is slow to anger and abounding in love. This is the nature of God. If we do not believe these things about Him then we have created a god in our own image! God is a refuse and a stronghold (Psalm 9:9). If we have troubles then we need to grab hold of Him.
- The love of the Lord DOES NOT change – God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us even when we did not know Him (John 3:16, 1 John 4:16).
- The Word of God DOES NOT change – The Word of God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). The Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). We need to read God’s Word, there is power in it.
God does not change, we must change. We need to become less and He needs to become more (Philippians 8:9).
