Loving the Lord in lockdown 3! – Introduction
Before Jon spoke to us he showed a video of David Jeremiah speaking about The Sheltering God which can be watched here.
David went through much turmoil in his life before he wrote Psalm 18. If we had gone through half of what David had gone through we might be angry with God, but Psalm 18 is David’s great plasm of praise to God as he looks back at his life and sees all the ways God has been with him and has helped him. David talks about the days of disaster he went through and felt like he was going under deep water and facing enemies that were too strong and too powerful for him, but through all these times David held on to his God who was his strength, his rock, his fortress, his deliverer, his shield and his salvation! David’s testimony is that the Lord has never let him down. This last year has been really tough for most people. We have had to cope with massive changes and challenges to our lives. David testifies to us in Psalm 18 that in the deepest, darkest experiences of life we can know the Lord through it all as our strength, our rock, our fortress, our deliverer, our shield and our salvation. Do you have a love relationship with God? Are you able to say with David, “I love you Oh Lord”. Faith is all about believing God loves us even when the evidence seems against us. Faith is expressing our love for God despite our circumstances.
