A church for all nations

The Laodicean Church

The Laodicean Church

Revelation 3:14-22 (NKJV)

John was an old man when he received this revelation. We are blessed if we read the Book of Revelation.

1. Who is speaking? Jesus is speaking to His bride. He says He has purchased the church at the price of His blood. He is the ‘Amen’ (“to ascent, to consent and as a petition”). He is putting His authority behind what He is saying. Jesus is God’s Amen. God says Amen in Jesus. Jesus will be God’s Amen forever. Jesus is the faithful true witness of the Holy and righteous God. Jesus is fully God and God Himself is speaking to the church here.

2. What is he saying to the church at Laodicea? Jesus is saying that their love is luke warm and not good enough. He says they are wretched, poor, blind and naked. Jesus says they are pitiable. He says they are no longer faithful to Him. He says He is going to spit them out if the do not put their faith in Him (buy refined gold from Him), cloth themselves in the righteousness of Him (put on white garments) and put salve on their eyes (the truth if His Word) so that they may see truly. Jesus says He has been waiting for them to invite Him in.

3. How that builds us up? Many believe the seven churches represent time periods of the church. Laodicea is thought to represent from the army 1900’s to now. This generation is that church. Jesus is speaking to us. He wants us to be hot to Him. Jesus tells repentant sinners to walk with Him and He tells unrepentant sinners to keep going but your sins will find you out! How will you respond to what Jesus is saying to the church at Laodicea?
