The new beginnings of Christmas and of RCC
The Christmas story is all about new beginnings. New beginnings mean that God is doing something. There is a 400 year gap between the Old and New Testaments – a long time to wait for God’s promises to be fulfilled. People were eagerly awaiting the Messiah. Suddenly God began to do extraordinary things. The Christmas story tells us:
- Don’t miss out on what God is doing today. Most people missed out on the events of the first Christmas. They had the wrong priorities, expectations and values in life. They missed the greatest event in history. They missed a day that would change their lives forever. They missed God becoming flesh! In 2020, don’t reject what God is doing. Don’t be so focussed on your own lives that you miss out on what God is doing today.
- Look for God in unexpected places, in unexpected people and in unexpected events. God can speak to us in unexpected ways and through unexpected people. When the unexpected things happen always ask God what He is saying through it.
- Hold on to the promises of God this Christmas. Hardly any witnesses at that first Christmas saw the fulfilment of God’s promises. Hold on faithfully to what you have seen and heard from God. Be believers and not doubters. Don’t go to sleep spiritually.
God is a God of new beginnings
