The power of the Spirit
Luke 4:1,14; Romans 8:9-14
Jesus is the best example of how we should live our lives. Jesus faced every temptation possible and yet was without sin. Romans 8:9-14 speaks of having the Holy Spirit living in us, being led by Him and living by the power of the Spirit.
- Being filled with the Spirit – It is not a one time thing. We need to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). It is a continually “be being filled”. Do not stop crying out for God to continually fill you with the Spirit. We need to be filled with the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19).
- Led by the Spirit – Where we are vulnerable is where the devil will hit you. When we are tempted we need to look to the Spirit to lead us through the temptation (Galatians 5:17). Temptation is not a sin, but temptation leads to sin if we stay in it (James 1:13-15). We will be tempted, but we need to turn to the Spirit to lead us. We need to keep going and keep seeking the Spirit.
- In the power of the Spirit – We see the power of the Spirit in the way we respond to situations. As we trust in God we overflow with the power of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a gift that is not just for us, we need to allow Him to leak out of us to others.
