The pattern of the Christian life
Philippians 3:7-14
The pattern of the Christian life consists of the following:
- Recognising our rubbish – Paul had everything to boast about and had every reason to have confidence before God, but he describes these things as garbage. We cannot impress God with anything we do.
- Knowing Christ and His resurrection power – The Christian life is a growing, intimate relationship with God. In Christ our relationship with God is restored. There is joy in knowing God and being known by Him. Are we living with the power of the resurrection in our lives?
- Participation in Christ’s suffering – Being heirs with Christ comes alongside suffering in life. In all seasons we can know the supremacy of God.
- Pressing on – In our suffering we need to press on to reach the goal of our faith. God continues to work in us as we press on to walk with Him.
