I am fearfully and wonderfully made
Psalm 139:1-24
We are fearfully and wonderfully made (vs 14). God has made each and every one of us and He has a purpose for each of us. Many Scriptures declare God’s purposes for our lives.
Many of us live under the lie of the enemy. We believe we are not good enough. When we say we are not good enough we sow doubt into our minds. We need to break out of the lie that we are not good enough. We need to listen to what God says about us. We need to be accountable, without condemnation, to each other so that we do not believe the lies about not being good enough.
This Psalm starts and finishes by saying that God knows us. This Psalm defines our identity in God. Verses 13-16 show that God, the divine craftsman, is intimately interested in the detail of our creation. He has knit us together. There is intention, care and artistry in our creation. We are all unique and carefully made. We are not accidents. “Fearfully” implies an awesome inspiring “Wow”. This Psalm should help us overcome our self doubt. These verses speak of God’s power over everything. We are special to God.
When we struggle with self image we are listening to ourselves or others and not God. The world will pull us down. This Psalm should give us a good grounding for accepting ourselves and what God says about us.
We should treat others with respect because God knit them together. We have no right to judge or pull others down.
