Invitation to come and see

John 1:35-51

God invites us all to come and see Him.

  1. ‘Come and see’ Jesus’ disciples – Jesus called different types of people to be His disciples. This should challenge our biases a out who Jesus calls to get to know Him. Jesus has destroyed all the boundaries between us. He is creating one new humanity that can know Him as Lord and Saviour (Ephesians 2:14-15, Romans 12:3). Jesus did not disqualify anyone. Jesus called people for different purposes.
  2. ‘Come and see’ who Jesus is –
    1. Lamb of God – Jesus was the sacrificial Lamb of God. He takes away our shame and guilt.
    2. Rabi – Jesus is our teacher and our leader. We need to be careful of what we allow to teach us or lead us.
    3. Messiah – Jesus is our all conquering savior. Jesus death and resurrection is fact.
    4. The one who Moses wrote about – Jesus is the fulfillment of Old Testament promise.
    5. Son of God – Jesus is God become flesh.
    6. King of Israel – Jesus is King if Kings. He reigns forever over all things.
  3. ‘Come and see’ what following Jesus means for us –
    1. We are called to have a whole life discipleship to Jesus, following Him daily as His disciples did.
    2. We are called to share the amazing Gospel of Jesus to all we meet.
