Living under the shadow of the Almighty
Isaiah 6:1-8; Matthew 6:6; 1 Peter 2:9; Galatians 2:20
Do we know how to live under the presence of God? We need to re-occupy the secret place. God wants to stir His people again. He wants us to experience Him in the secret place.
Leonard Ravenhill was known as a great man of prayer. He said, “Revival begins in the secret place”. If that’s true we are never going to see the power of God in revival if we ate not occupying the secret place and experiencing God there. This country needs you to learn how to go to the secret place and to hear the voice of God.
Evan Roberts spoke of the need of people to return to God and receive personal spiritual renewal. He prayed, “Lord bend me, break my pride, remove everything that stands between you and me, teach me to obey you quickly and completely, give me courage to follow your will even when it is difficult, revive my heart Lord, revive your church, Let your Holy Spirit work in me and through me, make me a vessel for your glory, let my life point others to Jesus, bend me Lord and use me for your glory”. We need to pray this prayer. We need God to bend us. Something has to happen in us so that God’s living flame burns in us.
- What happens when a person encounters the holiness and the presence of God (Matthew 6:6)? – The secret place is the most neglected place in our Christian walk. The secret place is the place where God develops His intimacy with us. It is where we acquire a God given ministry. It is where God moves in our spirits. It is where we have intimacy with Him. It needs to be a place where we regularly spend time seeing God high and lifted up. The more time we spend in His presence the more we become like Jesus. Our hearts need to yearn to be in the centre of His will and we only learn His will in the secret place. In the light of His presence we will discover our true selves and our flesh must die. The secret place is where His gifts are honed in us. The secret place is where God shows us the provision for our need.
- Keep your eyes fixed in the right direction (1 Peter 2:9) – We need to look unto Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). We need to have a divine perspective on who we are before God so we can declare Him to the world (1 Peter 2:9). We only get this perspective by fixing our eyes on Jesus. When we fix our eyes in the right direction the throne of God is involved in our intercession. If we are seekers of God then we need to fix our eyes upon Him. When we fix our ours on God and stay in His presence we carry Him with us into the world.
- Let flesh die that Christ might live through you (Galatians 2:20) – Letting our flesh die is the fruit of spending time in God’s presence. It is no longer us that live, but Christ lives in us. When we learn how to decrease we make room for God to increase in us. Out of the secret place we carry the presence of God. God’s presence changes everything – prayer into communion, worship into encounter, preaching into anointing and ordinary people into extraordinary people of power.
