Holding on to God
Proverbs 3:1-7 (NKJV)
As children of God we need to hold on to Him and not give up because of challenges or circumstances.
Susan Wesley was born into a Christian family. She had a complicated life, but she held on to God. Nine of her children died, she was imprisoned twice because of debt, but her not giving up on God and her prayers changed history! She did not let go of God and raised two giants – John and Charles Wesley.
There are things in our destiny that have not been revealed to us, challenges that we have to go through. God knows all that we will go through. Jesus said we will have trouble (John 16:33), but God will not give up on us. We need to look up to Jesus (Hebrews 12:2).
Trusting God is the faith to foolishly and faithfully follow God in the face of accusations, trails, debts and rebellious circumstances of life even when we do not understand what God is doing. That is holding on to God.
In Genesis 37:5-9 Joseph had a great future ahead of him, but his brothers hated him even more. God did not show Joseph he would go into the pit, be sold, end up in prison, etc. We need to hold on to God no matter what happens to us. Every step that Joseph took there was someone to intervene to see the will of God fulfilled (Romans 8:28).
