Looking back – Looking forward
Acts 28:16-17, 23, 30-31
The growth of the church did not finish at Acts 28. The church continued to grow and develop. Jesus promised that He would build His church and that promise continued and is still continuing today. God’s work does not stop because something comes to an end. Acts 28 was not the end of the church.
- Looking back – Mission accomplished – At the end of the book of Acts the disciples could look back and say, “Mission accomplished”. In Acts 1 there was only about 120 disciples. By Acts 28 the Gospel had spread throughout the whole of the known world and it had turned the whole world upside down. The Kingdom of God has not lost it’s power today. As we look back we can see how much God has done in building Rock Christian Centre into what it is today.
- Looking forward – Mission to be accomplished – As we look forward we see there is still a mission to be accomplished. God has much more for us to do in the future. There is much more of His Kingdom to be accomplished. With God nothing is impossible. The world around us is in darkness and we need to shine for Jesus in a dark place. We are called to go and make disciples of all people. This is a command to all of us who are disciples of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 5:20).
