The Gospel of Luke: Jesus is for everyone – Be faithful servants
Luke 17:1-10
How do we respond to all that God has done for us? How different should our lives be as Christians? Jesus says:
- Watch yourselves – Are we watching others behaviour or our own? Jesus instructs us to be self aware, to watch ourselves. If we are not self aware then we will become offensive to others and will put them off following Jesus. We are called to carry the fragrance of Jesus wherever we go.
- Cause no offence – Jesus knows we are not perfect, but He says it is a grievous sin to cause others to sin. We should always point to Jesus in everything we do.
- Take no offence – How easily do you take offense? We should “Forgive, forgive, forgive”. Jesus commands us to forgive others.
- Be full of faith in God’s power – Jesus recognises it takes great faith and trust in God to not react when others hurt us. The world says “I will never forgive them”. Jesus challenges us to be radically different and to forgive. When we offer forgiveness we win over sin, it is a victory of faith.
- Be a servant for Jesus – We are never to take the glory for ourselves for the things we have achieved. We are nothing more than servants of God. We are nothing more than a sinner saved.
